Just launched: Insights from the Third Interim Evaluation – evolving for impact
Our newly published multi-pager presents the key findings of the Third Interim Evaluation (3IE) alongside our Management Response, underscoring our ongoing commitment to continuous learning, transparency, and delivering transformational change.
The 3IE, conducted by independent experts, reviews our performance from 2020–2024 and provides strategic guidance across three core pillars: Strategic Relevance and Global Alignment, Project Effectiveness and Transformational Impact, and Agile Governance and Efficient Delivery.
Demonstrating impact
The evaluation confirmed several strengths that are driving our growing impact:
- Alignment with national goals: Our projects are strongly supporting partner countries’ NDCs and national strategies.
- Stronger visibility: Our 2023 rebranding and refined sector focus is leading to more diverse applications and better recognition.
- Filling a critical need: Our integrated approach with financial and technical support continues to provide unique value in the climate finance space.
- GESI and learning: Continued prioritisation of advancing gender equality and social inclusion, alongside strengthening internal learning and reflection.
- Adaptive and effective structure: We strive to keep our processes clear and flexible, remaining responsive to challenges like Covid-19.
Opportunities to improve
The evaluation also highlighted areas for growth. We recognise the need to:
- Improve accessibility and visibility of successfully completed projects,
- Identify risks more systematically throughout the project lifecycle, and
- Communicate expectations more clearly at each stage of the application process.
Turning insights into action
In response, we have already taken steps to address these challenges and further strengthen the Mitigation Action Facility’s impact. We remain committed to supporting applicants and project partners in developing innovative ideas and implementing them effectively.
As we evolve, our focus remains on translating insights into real-world action that supports global efforts to combat climate change.
