Just launched: Annual Report 2024 – A year of strong growth and impact

August 8, 2025

2024 was a year of remarkable momentum for the Mitigation Action Facility. Our latest Annual Report, presents the milestones, achievements, and lessons from across our growing portfolio – highlighting how we are advancing ambitious climate action in developing countries and emerging economies.

Scaling up climate impact

In 2024, we launched two Calls for Projects, streamlined our application process, and attracted a wider range of high-impact proposals. Through targeted Technical Support Unit (TSU) guidance and a more inclusive selection process, we grew our portfolio to 60 active projects, marking a 21% increase compared to 2023.

Our focus on priority sectors, industry, energy, and transport, is driving measurable results. Several projects have already surpassed initial emissions reduction targets, showcasing real-world climate impact.

Strengthening knowledge and reach

We advanced our role as a Knowledge and Learning Hub, completing four new Evaluation and Learning Exercises (ELEs) to better understand what is working and where challenges remain:

In parallel, we substantially enhanced our outreach and engagement with the climate community. We sought stronger connections with key stakeholders, including potential Applicants and Implementation Organisations (IOs).

Looking ahead

The Mitigation Action Facility remains dedicated to working closely with partner countries to drive decarbonisation efforts. Experiences and lessons from 2024 will inform future strategic considerations and actions, ensuring we continue to advance climate action and forge pathways towards a carbon-neutral future.

We thank our partners and stakeholders for their dedication and continued collaboration as we work toward a more sustainable future.
